Founder and Director, Jim Mayhew grew up in the Detroit area where he studied piano and classical ballet. He majored in ballet at the University of Utah, the North Carolina school of the arts, and Interlaken. He danced for two years in the Severo ballet company in Detroit and then injured his ankle in 1973, which ended his dancing career.

That same year he learned the Transendental Meditation Program and then later learned the advanced TM-Sidhis Program. Since 1982 he has lived mostly in Fairfield, Iowa where he does his TM-Sidhis program together with a large group of Sidhas there.
